Proposal development support

The Faculty of Social Sciences has NOK 1,3 million available for strategic support for externally funded activities. The support is intended to stimulate researchers at the faculty to develop research proposals aimed at calls from the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation and the Research Council of Norway. The funding is intended as supplementary support when UiO’s PES funds are insufficient.

Applications must be submitted by someone in research administration on behalf of the researcher. The application must explain the needs and how the funds will be used, and it must show that UiO’s PES funds are not sufficient to cover the need.?

The support should be used to prepare grant applications.?

What can be funded (examples)?

  • Partner searches / consortium building
  • Travel expenses
  • Organisation of and participation in workshops and seminars
  • Buy-out of staff time
  • Proposal-writing support
  • External consultancy and proofreading
  • Patent database searches and similar
  • Pilot studies
  • Other relevant activities

Application

Applications are processed by the Dean of Research and the Faculty’s head of research administration. The application must be endorsed by the Head of Department.

Applicants will be informed of decisions; funds are paid after approval.

FRIPRO incentive funds 2026

The Faculty of Social Sciences continues the scheme providing incentive funds for academic staff who submit a FRIPRO proposal in 2026.

The support is awarded under the faculty’s established arrangement for support for proposal development. Note that a separate, simplified form must be completed for FRIPRO incentive funds.
