For the last assginment we only need one of the group members to attend the hand in. As some of you pointed out; the STL on thingeverse, does not exist anymore. However, we have the same STL on our GitHub here.?
See you tomorrow!
Extended deadline for assignments 5 and 6.
We have decided to extend the deadline for:
- Assignment 5: until 18.11 at 23:59
- Assignment 6: until 24.11 at 23:59
Correction of assignment 5 and 6
After the deadlines has expired, we will only focus on ensuring that all the formalities are in place, such as that all files are present and named correctly, that the README looks good and that the SolidWorks files work.
After the demo(26.11), we will consider assignments 4, 5, 6 and 7 as one project delivery. We will give feedback as soon as possible after 26.11.
Repos
We expect assignments 5 and 6 to be available in the following repos:
Some messages regarding assignment 5.?
Task 2: We've set up some photography backgrounds and lights so you can take some nice images of you prototype in the MoCap lab (4303).
Task 3: The schematics can be hand drawn, but it has to be readable and delivered in PDF-format as described in the text.
If you only use Dynamixels, you can use this style as a schematic:

If you use Arduino, the schematics style should look similar to this: ...
Due to IN5490 having intensive week this week (week ?46), we'll have no lecture on Wednesday. However, faculty will be available in the lab (4318/4321) on Monday (10.11.25) and Wednesday (12.11.25).?
Attendance is not mandatory.?
In Monday's lab session, we will give a tutorial on how to make cables for your Dynamixels, and help with assignment 5/6.
Wednesday's session will be a joint lab and lecture session. You can work on your project in the CAD Lab, and we will use the ROBIN area to show 1) How to set up Computer Vision models like YOLO, 2) How to set up an LLM for conversation, and if time allows 3) Robot walking gait approaches in simulation.
The Wednesday session counts toward the 80% attendance requirement, but since it’s an extra session, missing it won’t affect your requirement. Attending it can allow for more than 100% attendance.
Welcome to today's breaking competition! The event will be held in the ROBIN common/kitchen area. Bring your part and make sure it fits and are under 50 grams.
There will be cake!
We've done some updates to the assignment 4 text.
In the lecture on Wednesday (October 1st), the session will be divided into to sessions: Session one will be on "Additive-, subtractive and formative manufacturing". The second session will be a workshop and preparations for the project and assignment 4. Read through the different project topics before the session.
See schedule here.
See you tomorrow.
A couple of messages regarding this week:
- From today's lab session (Sept. 22nd) and onwards everyone is welcome from start at 12:15 (no session 1 and 2 devision as mentioned earlier in the semester).*
- In todays lab session, Adrian will show of the breaking rig.
- No lecture on Wednesday (Sept. 25th) due to lectures in IN5590.
- Postponed deadline for Assignment 2 from Sept. 22nd to Sept 25th.
*If the CAD-lab(4318) gets full, we ask those of you that have Solidworks installed on your own laptops to use the ROBIN common area. Faculty will stop by.
If you have any questions, please let us know in ou...
In todays lab session at 12:15, we'll run a soldering workshop in SONEN (room Ada on the third floor). Bring your soldering kits.
For those of you that are finished with the soldering, you are free to attend lab 4318, where you can get help from Mats/Ege.
See you there!
Remember to sign up for access to the lab by following this link as soon as possible.
As mentioned in the lecture, we need to divide the lab into two sessions:

Welcome to IN5590. We are looking forward to get working on prototyping robotic systems! For students interested in this course, note that we have a limit of 24 students. Moreover, we have mandatory attendance (more than 80%) in lectures. If you want to get an impression on what we are doing in the course, take a look at the Portfolio from last year (h24). Teaching will begin August 27th.
Looking forward to do some lab work!
