We invite you to take part in an evening of discussion on nuclear energy in Norway and Europe with opportunities for networking and expert talks.
DNV invites all physics students, both bachelor’s and master’s students, to a company presentation at its offices in H?vik on Thursday, April 16.
The theme of the evening will be DNV’s new nuclear power report, which will be published on April 8. The report builds on the work of the expert commission appointed by the Norwegian Parliament in 2024 and addresses Norway’s future in nuclear energy. Both students and DNV employees are invited, and there will be opportunities for mingling and discussion around the topic, with food and drinks served. This will be a great opportunity to meet DNV employees, connect with former physics students, and gain insight into working life after graduation.
A bus will depart from the Physics Building on Thursday, April 16 at around 16:15. The bus will return from H?vi...

There will be an interesting presentation titled: Point defects in semiconductors for quantum technologies: Combining theory and experiment, by Associate Professor Marianne Etzelmüller Bathen, Section for Solid State Physics and Quantum Technology, UiO.
The talk will be in English.
An abstract, a presentation of the speaker, and an "add to calendar" option (recommended), can be found on the following department website

On Tuesday, November 11, from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, "Interns Day" will be held at 篮球即时比分_nba比分直播-彩客网重点推荐sparken at UiO, where students can meet startup companies (founded by UiO students) at booths to potentially secure internships with them.
This is a valuable work experience that can provide you with more career opportunities, if not a full-time job at the startups. It is also a great way for students who are interested in entrepreneurship and innovation to get involved in the university's entrepreneurial ecosystem and consider starting their own business.
Registration can be done via the link below, where you can also indicate any food allergies for the meal that will be served, which is a nice bonus!

Wednesday, October 29, there will be a career event "Life After Studies."
You will receive useful career tips, have the opportunity to enjoy a snack, and the chance to mingle with other students. This time, Torunn Kjeldstad, head of the Department of Energy Technology, and Nico K?nig, senior analyst at Statkraft, will be joining us. They will share their experiences regarding their career paths and give you insight into job opportunities. Both have an education in physics and have been involved in research. Then, they shifted their career paths to management and as senior analysts.
The event is open to all interested - Free to attend - No registration required.

On October 23rd we will be organizing Master Seminar 1, which is especially aimed at students in their first semester. Here we will have a special focus on how to find scientific literature, how to read scientific articles and how to plan a project. The latter is especially important with regard to the project description that you must submit by December 1st.
Register for Master Seminar 1 here - there will be pizza!
When registering, you can also indicate what you would like to be discussed and answered in the seminar.
It is an expectation from the department that Master students participate in the Master Seminars, as general guidance is provided here in finding literature, referencing and writing.
Time and place: 23rd of Oktober, at 12.00 ( to appr. 13.10), in Origo.
There will be an interesting presentation titled:
Sustainability, the role of physics and how Kristian Birkeland created a fertilizer industry to study the Northern Lights, by Dr. Anja R?yne, Department of Physics, UiO
The talk will be in English.

Would you like to participate in a study to test a new type of body-worn sensor? You will wear four sensors for a total of approx. 30 hours and will, among other things, spend a short time in a cool room and a warm room to test the temperature characteristics of the sensor. You will receive a gift certificate of 500,- for your participation.
Contact: Sisay M. Abie and Ole Elvebakk: s.m.abie@fys.uio.no and ole.elvebakk@ous-hf.no (send an email to both).
Take the opportunity to learn both about research and about sensors!
