How to improve your chances of working with us

We’re always looking for talented students who want to make a real impact through research and innovation. Here’s how you can strengthen your chances of joining us:

  • Focus on relevant experience
Experience from research projects, student labs, internships or technical student organizations (like Revolve NTNU or Vortex) shows us that you’re passionate about applying your knowledge. If you’ve worked with real-world problems, even better.
  • Build strong skills
We value solid analytical thinking, programming skills (e.g. Python, MATLAB, C++), hands-on lab experience, and the ability to work in multidisciplinary teams. If you want to work with us, aim to deepen your expertise – and show curiosity beyond the classroom.
  • Academic level
We primarily recruit master's and PhD students. For summer jobs and part-time research positions, we often look for candidates who have completed at least three years of their degree. A strong academic record is important, but motivation and initiative count just as much.
  • Engage with us
Take part in events where we’re present – such as career fairs, student conferences, or research days. Many of our employees are also former summer interns, so don’t hesitate to apply for our summer researcher program. It's a great way to get to know SINTEF from the inside.
  • Join relevant networks
Participate in professional networks, student research groups, or national technology competitions. These give you visibility, experience, and contacts – all of which help you stand out.

The most important thing? Show us what you care about – and how you want to help create technology for a better society.
