More about NBIM
The fund is invested in international equity and fixed-income markets as well as unlisted real estate and renewable energy infrastructure. We are more than 620 people from 35 countries based in Oslo, London, New York, Singapore, and Shanghai. Our mission is to safeguard and build financial wealth for future generations of Norway.
The aim of the fund is to ensure responsible and long-term management of revenue from Norway’s oil and gas resources, so that this wealth benefits both current and future generations. The fund’s formal name is the Government Pension Fund Global. The fund has a small stake in more than 9,000 companies worldwide, including the likes of Apple, Nestlé, Microsoft, and Samsung. On average, the fund holds 1.5 percent of all of the world’s listed companies.
The fund exists to help finance the Norwegian welfare state for future generations. The future value of the fund depends on sustainable growth, well-functioning markets, and value creation at the companies we invest in. We, therefore, monitor their ESG performance – how they are run and how they impact the environment and society. We call this active ownership.
Recently, Norges Bank Investment Management has reached the top of the Global Pension Transparency Benchmark and was named the most transparent fund in the world. The ranking is published by CEM Benchmarking and Top1000funds.com.
How to improve your chances of working with us
Our goal is to be the leading large investment fund in the world, so we need the best people on our team. We are always on the lookout for top investors, tech talents, and other skilled professionals both in Norway and abroad, and we offer fantastic opportunities for students and recent graduates.
Depending on the position, the specific skillset that we look for might be different, but as a general rule:
- We seek individuals with intellectual curiosity who think outside the box and have the ability to be contrarian.
- We are looking for talented people from a range of educational backgrounds, with different mindsets, and who are comfortable in taking risks.
- We strive to have an environment where we do not fear failure, as failure helps us learn and improve.
- We encourage candidates from different socio-economic- and minority backgrounds to apply.
- We aim to increase the share of women to exceed or match the industry average across all functions.
This is what is it like to be newly hired in our company
Our successful graduate programme is a one-year rotational development opportunity, based in Oslo. There may also potentially be opportunities to work in one of our international offices during the programme, depending on business needs. Upon completion of the graduate programme, the employee will be transitioned into an entry-level position within our organisation.
Our graduate positions offer wide-ranging personal and professional development opportunities in various roles across the organisation, including investment management, risk management, compliance, corporate governance, and technology.
As part of the programme, you will receive comprehensive training and development at onboarding and throughout the year, a corporate mentor and a ‘buddy’ to support you in your role.
To thrive in a competitive, hard-working, and high-performing organisation, we nurture a culture where our employees have fun at work. Other than the Graduate programme, we also offer a 8-week summer internship opportunity for students in their penultimate/final year of studies or regular full-time positions, with different requirements, depending on business needs.
