ECON9050 – PhD Workshop: Mid-term evaluation
Course content
Each year the Department of Economics arranges a workshop for PhD candidates and their supervisors, where candidates in the 3rd semester of the program will present their own work. This works as a mid-term evaluation in accordance with the PhD Regulations §4 on Quality Assurance.
Learning outcome
The purpose of the workshop is to encourage the candidates to an early start on their dissertation, and to ensure that candidates receive training in presenting the material to a wider audience. It is compulsory for the candidates on third semester and their supervisors, but also other PhD candidates and other members of the staff are encouraged to attend. In addition, 2-4 external opponents are invited to comment on the presentations.
Admission to the course
PhD candidates who have been admitted to the programme at the Department of Economics.
Teaching
The workshop takes place during one day. Each candidate will be given 30 minutes to present an article. The work will be commented on by the opponents, and there will then be an opportunity for comments/questions.

- A written draft of the article to be presented.
- A declaration from the candidate that all necessary licenses, permits and recommendations related to the research project have been obtained.
