          <h2 id="course_content">Course content</h2>
          <p>During this course students will learn about concepts related to a holistic?view of sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), and how social and?political determinants of health, as well as inequities in access to care,?impact in particular marginalized populations. Students will learn about?SRHR movements, as well as the human rights and reproductive justice?framework, analyzing how these principles can guide interventions and?advocacy work.?</p>
<p>The following topics will be covered in the course:</p>

<p>Definitions and concepts of legal and health system?frameworks</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Social and political determinants of SRHR</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Human Rights and Reproductive Justice framework? Health systems governance and quality of care? Advocacy and research in SRHR</p>

          <p>Knowledge</p>
<p>At the end of the course, you will be able to:</p>

<p>Explain the central concepts of sexual and reproductive health and?rights, including international legal frameworks.</p>

<p>Illustrate the relationship between the social determinants of?health, health inequity and social injustice in the context of sexual?and reproductive rights.</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Demonstrate the extent and impact of sexual and reproductive?health among vulnerable populations?</p>

<p>Describe current and emerging global challenges of SRHR under?threat</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Discuss how SRHR is linked to the Sustainable Development Goals?</p>

<p>Assess global actors’ roles, efforts and challenges in enhancing?equity in access to sexual and reproductive healthcare services.</p>

<p>Describe political, social and cultural factors influencing sexual and?reproductive rights.</p>

<p>Critically analyze the relationship between health systems,?governance and quality of reproductive health care.</p>

<p>Propose a respectful and high-quality sexual and reproductive?health services for vulnerable populations.</p>

<p>Develop an analytical framework and a methodological,?interdisciplinary approach to understanding the gender, legal and?health dimensions of human rights.</p>

<p>Appraise global challenges related to sexual and reproductive health?and rights and identify opportunities for advocacy and research</p>

          <h2 id="admission">Admission to the course</h2>
          <p>This course is available for students registered at the master programmes at the Institute of Health and Society.</p>
<p>Students from other?master programmes at UiO may also be admitted.</p>
<p>Students who are admitted to study programmes at UiO must each semester register which courses and exams they wish to sign up for?<a href="http://www.uio.no/english/studies/registrations/course-registration/">in Studentweb</a>.</p>

          <h2 id="teaching">Teaching</h2>
          <p>The course consists of lectures and seminars/small group work. In the?seminars, the students do exercises and assignments related to the?course.</p>
<p>80% attendance in the seminars / group work is required to be?eligible to take the exam. Attendance will be registered</p>
<p>The quota for absence is meant to cover normal sickness absence and the like. You are therefore not given a valid absence from classes based on a medical certificate, even if the absence is due to obstacles for which you yourself cannot be blamed.?<a href="/english/studies/special-needs-leave-part-time/">In special cases, for example in the case of serious or long-term illness, you can apply for special needs provisions.</a></p>
<p>Access to teaching</p>
<p>A student who has completed compulsory instruction and coursework and?has had these approved, is not entitled to repeat that instruction and?coursework. A student who has been admitted to a course, but who has?not completed compulsory instruction and coursework or had these?approved, is entitled to repeat that instruction and coursework, depending?on available capacity.</p>

          <p>Written school examination, individual.</p>
