I finished the exam for 2024 today, so tomorrow's lecture is cancelled. I recommend that you try to solve the exam from 2023 and 2022 on your own, and ask me questions about them. I am available for help in room 903 in the math building in the time of the lectures tomorrow and next week.

Today I will solve the last exercises from chapter 14, and also start on last year's exam. I may complete that exam today already, but it may also be that I need tomorrow's lecture as well. There will be no more lectures after I have solved the exam from 2024, so next week's lectures are cancelled. Those of you who have any questions can visit me in my office next week at the time of the lectures (1415-1600 Monday/tuesday). I recommend you solve the exams from 2022 and 2023, and ask me for help on these when needed. I sit in room 903 in the math building.

Next week I decided that we use Monday to go through the remaining exercises in "a mini-introduction to convexity". I start on network flow theory on Tuesday. Network flow theory will need 3-4 lectures.

I have posted a solution to the first compulsory exercise under resources on the course webpage.
I commented on many of you that the order of the variables or the constraints swapped unnaturally during pivoting, or that matching variables were not listed above one-another. These are not errors, and would usually not lead to less points in a an exam, but it makes the simplex method less systematic and more prone to errors.

Since last Tuesday's lecture was canceled, I will instead start on chapter 3 on Monday, and continue on chapter 4 on Tuesday. The schedule of the course has been changed to reflect this.

Welcome to MAT3100! The first lecture will be on 20th of January, and we will be in aud. 4 VB (see the calendar). The lectures (four hours per week) will be used for both exercises and going through the syllabus.
The syllabus has been updated (we use leganto). In addition, the lecture notes are also part of the syllabus, and will be made available continuously.
We will use the fifth edition of Vanderbei's book.
