Overview
Audience participants will be asked to:
- Wear reflective wristbands during the concert to make their hands visible to an infrared camera.
- Enjoy the performances as usual.
How will this affect the concert?
The high-quality, entertaining performance given by the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra will remain unchanged. Visually, you will see some of the technology the orchestra members are wearing; for example, the eye-tracking glasses on the conductor. All of this will be small and not distract from the enjoyment of the concert. Some technology may be used to create visuals to enhance the concert experience. Additionally, there will be short announcements with instructions for those audience members who wish to participate.?
What will participation involve?
Reflective Bracelets
We are interested in your body motion during the concert. Reflective bracelets will be given out during the concert you are attending as an audience member. Any members of your group who are interested in participating will be instructed to wear the bracelets on their wrists for the duration of the concert. We will use infrared video to capture the motion of your wristbands using these reflectors.
Survey
We are interested in the musical enjoyment of audience members who attend the family concert. Attendees will be invited to complete a brief survey during the concert containing questions about their music experience. Parents can choose whether the survey is appropriate for their children to complete.
Know your Rights
Participation in this project is voluntary. There will be no negative consequences for any audience members if you do not want to participate.?
All audience data will be collected anonymously so that you cannot be directly identified. We will only use your anonymous data for the purposes stated in this document. We will process your anonymous data confidentially and follow data protection legislation (the General Data Protection Regulation and Personal Data Act). Only people in the project group will have access to the data.?
We will process this data as a task in the public interest. The goal is to conduct research on music performance, movement, and perception in real-world contexts and explore new music research strategies. On behalf of the University of Oslo, NSD – Norwegian Center for Research Data AS has determined that personal data processing in this project follows the privacy regulations.
