The entire portfolio of master's level courses at the Department of Political Science is open to students in both the Master in Peace and Conflict Studies (PECOS) and the Master in Political Science programs. The only exceptions are the mandatory methods courses in the first semester, as well as master's thesis courses, which are reserved for students in their respective programs.

Admission to external courses
Supervision
The individual supervision of your master's thesis spans two semesters, and two semesters only. You and your supervisor will normally meet approximately ten times during the course of these two semesters.
Teaching and learning methods
The teaching methods at the programme are based on lectures, seminars and workshops.
Forms of examination and assessments
Examination forms at the programme are mainly written, invigilated exams and term paper assignments. The evaluation of the thesis is based on an assessment of the written thesis as well as an oral examination, during which the students will have the opportunity to defend the thesis.
Discover Your Future
Through the master's degree, you will be offered a complete programme to make it easier for you to discover your opportunities along the way and to make way for good choices later. Discover your future consists of four courses, one for each semester of the master's degree. The courses consist of a combination of four e-learning modules in Canvas, which you can take as you see fit, as well as some physical workshops where you get the opportunity to work on the various topics.

Leave of Absence from Studies
Students have the option to apply for a leave of absence from their studies. For an undocumented leave of absence, students are generally required to apply for two semesters off due to the structure of the program.
It is only possible to apply for one semester of leave without documentation after completing the third semester. Taking a leave of absence after completing the third semester nromally necessitates an interruption in supervision. This interruption must be agreed upon with the supervisor and the department, and can be arranged for a maximum of one semester.

Honours certificate
Are you academically ambitious? It is possible to supplement your master`s degree with an honours certificate worth 20 credits. You take the certificate concurrently with the master`s programme.?
Diploma and degree
This programme leads to the following degree: Master of Philosophy in Peace and Conflict Studies.
