If the equipment is set up for collecting larger amounts of data, analysis of the collected data should not be performed on the equipment/lab machine itself. Once the data has been collected, it must be moved to suitable storage. During the setup of the equipment, you will have a dialogue with your Lab IT contact about which storage solution is best suited to your needs.
As a general rule, data should be stored on:
- UiO Object Storage (S3),
- UiO Storage hotel, or
- Shared volumes
In later versions, it will also be possible to store data on:
- Educloud Research (coming soon!)
- TSD (coming soon!)
You are not allowed to store research data in your home directory (M:) or locally on your computer.
Once storage has been set up, you connect to the stored data from your office computer for analyzing the data. See the documentation on how to use Object storage, how to use the Storage hotel, and how to use shared volumes.
If you are unsure, talk to your Lab IT contact, who can help you with setting up storage.
