The UiO Growth House, dScience ¨C Centre for Computational and Data Science, UiO:Life Science and UiO:Energy and Environment are now co-located in Oslo Science Park. ¡®Now the units can work more closely together and draw on each other's expertise as well as extract synergies from each other. This gives UiO the opportunity to develop its strategic initiatives and strengthen the innovation thinking¡¯, says UiO's vice-rector for research and innovation Per Morten Sandset.

From 1 January, the new IT department at UiO is in place. Both USIT and local IT staff from several units at UiO are part of the new department. For most people at UiO, the first ting which will be noticed is that contacting IT support will be easier with one, joint point of contact. For the staff in the new IT department there are organisational changes, some will get a new manager and all will work together.

On January 1st 2023, the new joint IT organization for UiO comes into force. The organisation's vision is to be user-oriented, inclusive, highly competent and creative, and already in November we are seeing results of the user-orientation in the form of a survey that is sent to all faculty, staff and students.

Hanne Flinstad Harbo won the election for the position of dean at the Faculty of Medicine with 53% of the votes. She will be the faculty's first female dean.

23 researcher projects and two student projects at the University of Oslo have been granted seed funding and student support from the Life Science Growth House. We are happy to see so many promising early-stage innovation ideas. We congratulate all who are involved in the projects and look forward to good collaboration!

Since the start in 2016, more than 350 young health science researchers have received training in health innovation through the School of Health Innovation. From 1 June, the Life Science Growth House is in charge of the school at the University of Oslo.

Wednesday 20 April it was time to celebrate the new projects that have completed UiO:Life Science's innovation programme SPARK Norway. At the same time the Vaccibody Innovation Award was presented for the first time.

The Life Science Growth House and business clusters kick off innovation hangouts where researchers, students and businesses can build networks. In this way, we will facilitate collaboration that puts more research from UiO to use for the benefit of patients and society.

On 17 February, the Life Science Growth House ¨C the new innovation unit for life sciences at the University of Oslo ¨C was officially opened. EIT Health Scandinavia, part of one of the largest life science initiatives world-wide, is now expanding its network to include University of Oslo (UiO) as an associate partner.

While most of us are focused on Christmas gifts, family, Christmas movies and peace and quiet, there are those who have completely different plans.

Medication use during pregnancy, healthy aging, cancer, organoid technology, fibrosing diseases and cognitive function throughout life. These are societal challenges that will be examined by new interdisciplinary life science research groups at the University of Oslo.
