</vrtx-component-block></div><hr/><h2><a id="number-days"></a>Number of holiday days and quotas in the self-service portal</h2><ul><li>Everyone is?<strong>entitled </strong>to take 5 weeks?of holiday per year. Employees over the age of 60 have an extra holiday week. If you join UiO after 30 September, you are entitled to take 1 week of holiday this year. </li><li>Employees with full holiday pay entitlement are allotted??the quota "Holiday with pay" in the self service portal. <a href="https://dfo.no/english/self-service-portal/absence-quota-overview">How to check your quota (dfo.no)</a>.</li><li>For part-time employees, the full holiday quota is calculated based on the number of working days per week. This means that an employee in a 60% position who works 3 days a week will receive a quota of 15 holiday days. An employee in a 60% position with working hours distributed? over a 5-day weeks will receive a quota of 25 holiday days.</li><li>Employees without full accrual of holiday pay?from last year are allotted 2 quotas in the self-service portal, "Paid holiday" and "Unpaid holiday", totalling 5 weeks (25 days). If the employee wants to take less than 25 holiday days due to lack of accrual of holiday pay, this can be agreed with the nearest manager. <a href="https://dfo.no/english/self-service-portal/absence-quota-overview">How to check your quota (dfo.no)</a>.</li><li>Employees who join UiO in the current year will only be allotted the quota "Unpaid holiday" in the self-service portal. <a href="https://dfo.no/english/self-service-portal/absence-quota-overview">How to check your quota (dfo.no)</a>.</li><li>Everyone has the <strong>obligation</strong> to take at least the number of holiday days that are compensated with accrued holiday pay, a maximum of 25 days (30 days for employees over 60). If one does not wish to use all or part of the quota "Unpaid holiday", this can be agreed with the nearest manager.<strong> Note:</strong> The obligation to take holiday also applies when the holiday pay was earned from another employer, even when this?holiday pay has been paid.</li><li><strong>The holiday quota in the self-service portal </strong>shows the number of days you have available for holiday in the current year. This quota is reduced as soon as you have submitted an application for a holiday, ie even before it has been approved by your manager. In this way, the self-service portal constantly shows you the number of available vacation days for which you can create an application.</li></ul><h2><a id="timing"></a>Timing of holiday</h2><ul><li>Employees must reach an agreement with their immediate superior regarding the timing of holiday, see?<a href="/english/for-employees/employment/working-hours-and-absence/holiday/application/index.html">applying for holiday</a>.</li><li>All employees are entitled to demand 3 weeks of consecutive holidays during the period from 1 June to 30 September. However, the exact holiday period is determined by the employer.</li><li>Each of the other two weeks may be?demanded?taken as whole weeks, but not consecutively.</li></ul><h2><a id="deadline-applying-holiday"></a>Deadline for applying for holiday</h2><ul><li>You can apply for holiday throughout the year but remember to apply in good time so that your manager can plan for your absence.</li><li>You should discuss with your manager when to take your main holiday <strong>by May 1st</strong>. The purpose of this is to ensure that the holiday schedule can be carried out responsibly and to guarantee that all employees can take their holiday with sufficient notice.</li><li>An automatic reminder from the payroll system will be sent to apply for the main holiday by May 1st each year.</li><li>For academic staff, UiO pre-registers a suggestion that accrued annual leave be taken in July. If you would prefer to take leave at another time, you may delete the suggestion and apply for leave for a different period. See the user guide (dfo.no Requests for absence in the self-service portal | DF?.)</li></ul><h2><a id="employees-over-60"></a>Employees over the age of 60</h2><ul><li>From the year you turn 60, you are entitled to 1 week extra holiday. These days may be required settled together, but not necessarily continuous with the rest of the holiday.</li><li>Note that?<a href="http://www.uio.no/english/for-employees/employment/joining-leaving/senior/senior-employee-policy.html#extra-days-off">seniors' days</a> are not holidays.</li><li><a href="http://www.uio.no/english/for-employees/employment/joining-leaving/senior/">Read more about senior employee policy at UiO</a>.</li></ul><h2><a id="transfer-holiday"></a>Transfer of holiday days</h2><ul><li class="elm-has-own-text">Regulations in Norway allow the transfer of up to?<strong class="elm-has-own-text">14 days' holiday</strong> to the next year (10 days pursuant to the Holiday Act, 4 days pursuant to the Basic Collective Agreements).</li><li class="elm-has-own-text">Employees must apply for a?transfer?of holiday days in the self-service portal where?their immediate superior will processes the application, see?<a href="/english/for-employees/employment/working-hours-and-absence/holiday/application/index.html">apply for a transfer of holiday days</a>.</li><li class="elm-has-own-text">In the event that employees, contrary to regulations, have more than 14 days holiday transferred?to the subsequent holiday year, an explanation must be provided in the self-service?portal.</li><li class="elm-has-own-text">An application for transfer of a holiday can be registered towards the end of the year and must be registered no later than 31 January of the following year. The application must only be registered when the employee has taken the holidays that he/she has the right and duty to take in the current year and knows the number of remaining holidays that can be transferred.</li><li class="elm-has-own-text">When changing an application, it must be re-applied for and a comment on this must be entered in the field ?Note to approver?.</li></ul><h2 class="elm-has-own-text"><a id="advance-holiday"></a>Holiday days taken in advance</h2><ul><li class="elm-has-own-text">A?maximum?of <strong>10?holiday days</strong> (2 weeks) may be granted?taken in advance.</li><li class="elm-has-own-text">Holiday days taken in advance can only be granted if you have accrued sufficient holiday entitlement.</li><li class="elm-has-own-text">Notification of transfer of?holidays to be taken in advance must be submitted in writing on the proper <a href="http://www.uio.no/for-ansatte/skjema/ferieforskudd-engelsk.odt">paper form (odt)</a> to the <a href="/english/for-employees/support/human-resources/local-personnel-officer.html">local personnel officer</a>.</li></ul><h2 id="toc3"><a id="sickness-holiday"></a>Sickness and holiday</h2><p>Different regulations apply, depending on whether the timing for the holiday has been determined:</p><h3>Sickness which occurs prior to holiday</h3><ul><li>If you are on 100% sickness absence prior to the holiday, you are entitled to request postponement of the holiday. This request must be submitted together with a medical certificate at the latest by the last working day before the holiday is scheduled to start.</li><li>Employees who have been on 100 % sick leave?and have been prevented from taking their full holiday entitlement before the end of the year shall <a href="#transfer-holiday">transfer holiday days not taken?to the following holiday year</a>.</li></ul><h3>Sickness which occurs during a holiday</h3><ul><li>Employees are entitled to request postponement of holiday if the sickness lasts for at least 1 working day.</li><li>The sickness must require 100 % absence and be documented by a?<a href="http://www.uio.no/english/for-employees/employment/working-hours-and-absence/illness/rights-obligations/index.html#toc2">medical certificate from a doctor</a>.?If the medical certificate has been issued by a doctor?<strong>abroad</strong>, you must also submit the <a href="https://www.nav.no/soknader/en/person/helse/sykepenger#NAV080906">declaration form for non-Norwegian medical certificates?–?NAV 08-09.06 (nav.no)</a>?so that UiO can request a refund of sickness benefits from NAV.</li><li>Postponed holiday entitlement due to sickness must be taken at a later date during the holiday year in question.</li></ul><h3>Holiday during periods of sick leave</h3><p>Employees with graded sick leave must carry out their holiday as normal.</p><p>It is not possible to combine holiday and sick leave by only taking holiday on days on which you should have been at work.</p><h4>Registration of holiday in the self-service portal (df?)</h4><p>It is not technically possible to apply for holiday in the self-service portal if a sick leave has already been registered for the same time period. You will get an error message.</p><p>You agree on vacation days with your immediate manager. The application for sick leave benefits is a self-declaration form of what has happened during the period of sick leave. If you have had holiday, it is important that you answer the question "Have you had holiday?" with "Yes", and state in which period. Once the application is sent, the declared vacation will be registered in the self-service portal within a couple of working days.</p><h4>Vacation during periods of public holidays and other work-free days</h4><p>Statutory holiday must not be confused with public holidays and other work-free days. Do not register these days as holiday in the application for sick leave benefits.
